Walnut Creek

A revamped entry stair sequence.

The original entry sequence of this Walnut Creek residence was both outdated and poorly designed. The clients desired a modern landscape that offered improved stair ratios and enhanced circulation. After exploring several configurations, a final stair layout was chosen to complement the orientation shift between the street and residence. Integrated planting flanks the stairs and is featured in a raised concrete planter, adding visual interest and softening the entry’s appearance. Custom LED address numbers and lighting controls were seamlessly incorporated into the planter wall, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal. This renovation also prioritized accessibility, allowing aging family members to visit and safely navigate the entry hillside —a key consideration for the clients.
